The TIS Wall
In April of this year we were contracted by The International School to paint a 380’ wall they had facing their school. They had been trying to have the wall painted for at least the last 2 years, but couldn’t get past the paper work, and had only general ideas of what should be done.
With the help of the parents and some of the kids, we buffed out the massive wall with two coats in one day. We started with a general idea, but due to the scale and format, ended up with a huge mashup of styles and techniques.
We had a huge variety of artist, Kango, Klutch, Heysus, TheVeg, Earwig, Jeremy Nichols, Rupeezy, Dominatah, McTools, OneBigTribe, Zaeos, Klavical, Amanda Valdez, Bose, Matt Shlosky, Beth Myrick, and a couple others, all around an amazing cast of artists and people.
After a long weekend, and finishing up in the rain, we had managed to fill almost the entire space in just 3 days. The story didn’t end there though, because it strayed from the original concept, and the cohesion was certainly at a minimal, it caused a debate on the school campus, between faculty, parents, and students. Ultimately they decided, because it caused discourse and debate, that it was healthy and inspiring for the school, “Art isn’t made to make everyone happy, and because it caused so much debate and interaction though out our whole school, the board voted unanimously that it’s perfect and we want to keep every inch.” ♥️
