For the Love is dedicated to creating spaces for misunderstood artistic mediums to flourish and garner support. Pregiodous often prevents artists in the hip-hop community, such as graffiti artists, break dancers, rappers, and turntablists the opportunity to freely express themselves.
Due to public perception these artists and their families have been kept seperate. Chances for families to not only experience but also participate in the culture together are still rare.
For the Love events bring together all the elements of the hip hop community. Together these artistic mediums, powerful on their own, become a true representation of the culture.
LAX ON THE TRAX
Coming July 20th!
EVENT DESCRIPTION
Lax on the Trax will be the seventh For the Love event. It will be held in Portland, Oregon. For an entire week we will coordinate around 32 graffiti artists bombing the exteriors of four vintage passenger train cars, including the roofs. The train cars are permanently located across the street from OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) and have been converted into offices.
This project culminates with an event at a separate venue to celebrate the work put into the train cars. A video documenting the entire week will be showcased during the event. It will include all elements of hip hop culture, live music, food, libations, and other good times.
EVENT BREAKDOWN
There are two elements to this program. The first half includes a weeklong coordination of graffiti artists transforming the exteriors of four vintage train cars. The second half is a close out celebration for the artists and community.
